The weather in Ngari may be harsh at times, thus the ideal months to go on this spectacular adventure are April to early June (spring) and late September to the end of October (fall). These are the periods when the weather is dry and pleasant, with bright skies and little rain to interfere with your hike. The journey may also be done in the summer, as the area surrounding Ngari receives relatively little monsoon rain, but it can get rather wet in late July and August. Unless you can be certain of favorable weather, stay to spring and fall. Winter is over, since it may become freezing in this part of Tibet, and there is usually snow by the end of December, making crossing the pass nearly difficult.
