CBSE vs ICSE Boards: Overview

The CBSE Board

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is one of India’s most popular and primary educational boards, following the national curriculum as well as various supplementary subjects. It administers national-level tests to students in order to give admission to various engineering and medical courses at the undergraduate level.

The board is approved by the NCERT (National Council of Education and Research Training) and administers two sets of exams: the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE).

The ICSE Board

The ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) Board, run by the CISCE (Council of Indian School Certificate Examination), is one of India’s most renowned and esteemed bodies of education. The council is a non-governmental education body in India that administers the ICSE examination in the 10th grade. After the 10th grade, the ICSE becomes ISC (Indian School Certificate), which examines the 12th grade.

Compared to CBSE, the syllabus of the best ICSE schools in Dehradun is said to be more thorough and complicated for all subjects. As a result, the ICSE board examinations for grades 10th and 12th are regarded as the most difficult.
