IIT Patna came into existence in 2008 when it was established by the Department of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Approved by UGC and AICTE, the college is an institute of national importance. The NIRF ranking in the research category 2023 was AIR 41. IIT Patna NIRF ranked AIR 66 in the general category and in the engineering category it ranked AIR 41.The academic reputation of IIT Patna is high for its provision of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in scientific, technological and human disciplines. Patna IIT offers BTech, MTech, MSc and dual programs in various disciplines.
