HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus that attacks the immune system and can lead to AIDS or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. HIV is a life-threatening condition that can be contracted through unprotected sex, contaminated needles, or blood transfusions. HIV can be present in a person without them knowing it, and it can be passed on without either person knowing it.
