With the excessive and improper use of agricultural fertilizers, China’s agriculture is becoming an important part of the ecological environment pollution. The water, soil and atmospheric environment have been overwhelmed by chemical fertilizers. In recent years, chemical fertilizers have emerged in many water pollution incidents. According to the inquiry of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the application amount of nitrogen fertilizer in China has far exceeded the demand for grain crops. The average application amount of nitrogen fertilizer in 17 provinces across the country has exceeded the internationally recognized upper limit of 225 kg per hectare. The combination of excessive and improper use of chemical fertilizers and the destruction of capital, as well as the pollution of ecological environment, has also reduced the return of chemical fertilizer input by 50% to 60% in the past 30 years, resulting in the reduction of agricultural product quality, the intensification of food safety problems, and the cumulative effect of agricultural pollution.
