Numerous studies demonstrate the detrimental effects of sleep deprivation on immune system performance, productivity, chronic disorders, and cognitive health. Over 100 million Indians are thought to have undiagnosed sleep apnea, and six out of ten persons regularly sleep for less than six hours. These startling figures rank India among the world’s most sleep-deprived countries, with negative effects on public safety, the economy, and individual health. Sleep disorders are becoming more widely acknowledged as serious public health issues associated with mental health issues, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
